Phil holds a Masters’ degrees in Religious Education, Education, and Counseling. His Master’s in Counseling degree from MidAmerica Nazarene, in Olathe, Kansas. He has a PhD in Family Therapy at Amridge University, in Montgomery, Alabama. Phil has a Post Graduate Certificate in Play Therapy from Wichita State University. His therapeutic approach includes cognitive behavioral, emotion focused and family system therapies, helping clients to have solutions, strategies and understanding emotional healing.
His clinical experience includes working with adults, couples, children and families. Special areas of skill includes those struggling with communication, anxiety, depression, grief, separation/divorce and parenting issues. He has the ability to help strengthen couple relationships in both marital and premarital counseling where he uses the PREPARE/ENRICH assessments.
As a play therapist, Phil specializes in using play therapy with children and families. As a part of his clinical experience, he provides therapy to children who have been impacted by trauma, abuse, grief, loss, adoption, anxiety, sibling conflict, social skills development, sexual abuse or anger management.
